‘Definitely 5 stars!
My partner and I had a really terrible experience at another business […] which we cancelled a boat purchased due to. […]
Thank you guys for really turning our experience around […]
We really appreciate how friendly you all were and how upfront you were during our experience.
We’ll definitely be recommending you to all our mates.’
It’s a good idea to service your boat every 100 hours of engine run time or every 12 months, whichever comes first. (For the average casual boater, 100 hours works out to around once a year.) If you’ve purchased a new engine, you’ll need a service after the first 20 hours or 3 months, then every 100 hours or 12 months after that.
Your boat needs to be serviced every 100 hours or 12 months (whichever comes first). It’s also a good idea to run through a pre-excursion checklist each time you go out on the water. (This checklist from the New South Wales government is a good example.) If you notice anything that isn’t compliant, schedule an inspection with your nearest Mercury workshop.
The cost of annual servicing depends on your boat, how often you take it out, and how you treat it. If you’re a casual boater who goes out a few times a month on the river, expect to pay around $350 a year to service a small outboard on a Bluefin-type hull. On the other hand, if you own a larger vessel that you run for 200 hours a year, you could easily spend $2,000 on servicing and parts.
No, it’s not. If you’re a relatively casual boater, 500 hours equates to around 4 or 5 years of usage. A well-maintained engine can last substantially longer, although we’ll often recommend a repower at the 10,000-hour mark. Even if your engine is still functional, the cost of maintaining it at that age is normally cost-inefficient.
Yes, we only service boats with Mercury engines. We’re an authorised Mercury dealer, which means every service we undertake is logged in MercLink, Mercury Marine’s national partner portal. That access means we can order parts more quickly than non-authorised dealers and get access to OEM technical support as required.
We use Mercury CDS G3, the gold standard in outboard motor diagnostic software.
