If you’re running a Mercury outboard on your boat, hooking up the SmartCraft Connect Mobile module is one of the smartest upgrades you can do. Once installed and connected to the Mercury Marine app, SmartCraft Connect Mobile turns your phone or tablet into a full engine-monitoring console — giving you real-time data, diagnostics, fuel & battery monitoring and more. Smooth, simple, and ideal for Gold Coast waters.
Here’s how to install it step-by-step.
What You’re Installing
SmartCraft Connect Mobile is a compact, plug-and-play module that integrates with any SmartCraft-capable Mercury outboard or MerCruiser engine (generally 2004 or newer, 40 hp+; and for newer 25–30 hp outboards 2022 onward).
Once installed and paired with the Mercury Marine app, you’ll get access to a full suite of digital gauges and live data: fuel levels, engine diagnostics, battery/water/fuel tank status, maintenance logs, GPS range info and more — all on your device.
Step-by-Step Installation
-
Locate the SmartCraft 10-pin connector on your engine. Remove the existing termination cap.
-
Plug in the SmartCraft Connect Mobile harness to that 10-pin connector.
-
Where applicable, route the harness behind the intake runner’s mounting tab and secure it with the supplied cable tie.
-
Mount the module using the supplied bracket (or cable ties), making sure to keep it away from any moving engine parts.
-
Keep hold of the old terminator cap — you may need it later if you remove the module. Note: Depending on your engine the cap might be yellow, red, or blue.
With the physical installation done, it’s time to configure the module via the Mercury Marine app.
Setting Up in the Mercury Marine App
-
Download the Mercury Marine app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) — if you don’t already have it.
-
Open the app, allow Bluetooth access when prompted (this lets the module communicate with your device).
-
Choose the “Consumer user” option, then hit Continue to enable data sharing.
-
Sign in with your email and password. If you’re new, choose Sign up now, fill in the required fields and tap Create.
-
Power up your boat (battery on), then in the app select Find My Device and choose your SmartCraft Connect Mobile module from the list.
-
Enter the serial number of your module (you’ll find it on the side of the unit), then tap Save.
-
Pick a Wi-Fi network for the module to use. Note: Networks without a password work fine — but avoid captive-portal Wi-Fi that requires a login page.
-
Enter the Wi-Fi password, hit Connect, then you’re ready to go! At this point you can customise your vessel/engine settings, tank info, and get access to real-time data.
Why It’s a Smart Move for Gold Coast Boaties
Whether you’re cruising the canals, hitting the Broadwater, or heading offshore, having live data at your fingertips gives you confidence. SmartCraft Connect Mobile helps you stay on top of fuel usage, monitor engine health, check battery status — even track maintenance intervals.
For anyone who loves reliable performance — especially with Mercury outboards, which we deal with regularly at Destiny Marine — it’s a small investment that makes a big difference.
